I'm Alfie Atkinson (he/him), a Front-End Engineer and UX/UI Designer based in the UK.
I want to bring fun back to the web without sacrificing usability, because what's the point of a pretty website if using it sucks?

A lot has gone into getting me where I am today. Here are some of the places I've learned, worked, and grown.
Front-End Web Developer
SUMS builds digital products for students' unions, with its platforms used by 25+ unions and engaging more than 1.3 million students.
I design and build across the full process, from UX discovery, information architecture and Figma prototypes through to accessible front-end development and API integrations, often working directly with clients to understand what they actually need.
Software Engineer
Synx Games is a Lincoln-based UGC gaming studio creating experiences across platforms like Minecraft and Roblox.
I co-led the development of a multiplayer web-based game prototype, building the interface and core gameplay systems in TypeScript and React while helping shape the product from idea to playable prototype within an eight-week delivery window.
Software Technician
B-Hive Innovations combines software, data science, machine learning, sensing and plant science to tackle problems in agriculture.
I worked on TuberScan, an agri-tech system using underground sensing and machine learning to analyse potato crops and predict yields. I improved Python data pipelines and model-training data while also refining the front-end dashboard.
A small family-run cleaning business looking to build a stronger digital presence.
I am working directly with the client across content structure, UX/UI and accessible front-end development, creating something that feels personal and trustworthy while making the business easy to understand and use.
